Classic Bonfire night recipes 🔥
We love to cook up delicious Bonfire night recipes here at Cookpad (any excuse!). On this traditionally chilly evening, you’ll want warming food and drink to heat you up from the inside out. In our blog post today we’ve looked out some classic Bonfire night recipes for you, with a few twists for variety!
Piping hot jacket potatoes
Jacket potatoes are easy to cook in bulk making them perfect for gatherings. If you give them a light coating of oil and a dusting of salt, then bake them in the oven, you’ll get a potato that’s crispy on the outside and light and fluffy in the middle.
Try this jacket potato recipe from Amazing Lady, for tasty crispy baked potatoes, perfect for filling with baked beans, cheese, chilli con carne or simply with lashings of butter. You can find lots of ideas for jacket potato fillings on Cookpad here.
Spicy & warming chilli con carne
Chilli con carne is another classic favourite on Bonfire Night. This warming meal can be served with your jacket potatoes, or with rice or on it’s own in paper bowls that can be taken outdoors.
We love this chilli con carne recipe from Irum Zaidi Home Cooking and Hiroko’s wonderful vegan chilli con carne recipe for non-meat eaters. Find more chilli con carne recipes on Cookpad here.
Hot dogs in buns
Hot dogs are another huge crowd pleaser on Bonfire night. You can very quickly warm up hot dogs or frankfurters in big batches, then all you need is a pile of rolls and an array of sides and condiments like onions, ketchup and hot mustard.
One of the easiest ways to prepare your hot dogs is to boil them alongside the onions in a large pan of water. Why not try Maureen’s simple hot dog with boiled onions recipe. Or try LeeGoh’s cheesy hot dog served with BBQ onions - so delicious! Find more hot dog recipes on Cookpad here.
Bonfire night desserts
Everyone will go wild if you hand around a plate of Jodie’s super cute bonfire night cupcakes. Who wouldn’t be impressed by a chocolate spiced cupcake filled with marshmallow fluff, topped with brandy buttercream surrounded by matchmakers!!
If you don’t have time for baking, why not hand around some of Samantha’s homemade bonfire night toffee. It’s quick to make and sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Our final dessert suggestion is classic hot chocolate with marshmallows. Give people a mug to warm their hands on or purchase some handy recyclable cardboard coffee cups if you have a really large gathering. We think Aiman’s nutella hot chocolate recipe would be very popular on Bonfire night! Or why not try Chris Seaton’s rich and creamy hot chocolate made with cocoa, milk chocolate, brown sugar and mini marshmallows. Yum!
