Passing it On with Bristol Food Connections
When it comes to food, everyone has something to share. From food memories, to new recipe ideas and inspiration. This won’t surprise anyone who knows me but many of my memories revolve around food! Eating together is a great joy for my family, whether we’ve cooked a meal ourselves or gone out and eaten in a restaurant.
When I think of my late father, I think of hours spent wandering down Whiteladies Road looking for exciting ingredients in Wild Oats and Better Foods, then watching the world go by as we sat eating Croque Monsieurs in the Cafe Du Jour. Now that my Dad is no longer with us, these happy memories mean more than I can possibly say.
I also have many recipes that remind me of time with my family. Sharing a big pot of warming slightly spicy braised red cabbage at Christmas with my sisters, or eating roast chicken, fish and more recently vegan casseroles (to accomodate my increasingly plant-based diet these days), all homemade for me by my mother when I visit her in Northumberland.
We all have stories to tell when it comes to food and this summer, in conjunction with the Bristol Food Connections event, we are inviting you to share them with us. From cookbook favourites to well known family dishes, recipes are shared over and over again, changed and adapted to fit different palates and requirements so that they become new and yet old at the same time.
We’d love you to take part in the Bristol Food Connections ‘Pass it On’ initiative with us, and share your recipes and stories with everyone!
To share your recipe and story, you will need to sign up to Cookpad. The account is free and it only takes a few minutes to join. We can’t wait to see your Pass it On dishes. Make sure you use the hashtag #passitonbristol in your recipe!
