Halloween party food for children

Halloween party food for children needs to strike a balance between being spooky (or downright gross) and tasting really delicious to youngsters. We've searched our Cookpad recipes and found ideas that are really easy, fun and above all tasty.

Savoury Halloween party food ideas

Sausage mummies - because everyone will love sausages wrapped in ready made puff pastry! These are so easy to make, simply wrap the pastry around your sausages and bake. Why not dip them into ketchup blood too! 🩸

Veggie owl - for a fresh veg option on the table, why not get the children to make this owl? With hummus eyes, a cucumber body and fresh bell pepper wings 🦉

Severed finger hotdogs - we made these hotdogs in a previous Cookpad Zoom workshop and we can tell you from experience, they look DISGUSTING! You’ll be amazed how much a flaked almond looks like a bloody torn fingernail when glued onto a hotdog with ketchup! Kids love hotdogs too so this is a real winner for a children’s Halloween party.

Sweet Halloween party food ideas

Silly monster mouths - a great option for a fresh sweet treat on the party table. Simply make these out of apples and peanut butter, using peanuts or flaked almonds for teeth and chocolate drops for eyes.

Dirt worm garden - this muddy worm garden ticks all the yummy boxes, melted chocolate, cream, jelly worms and chocolate biscuits. It’s an all round winner we promise! 🪱

Halloween decorated cupcakes - all kids love cupcakes! Simply buy readymade cakes and decorate them using i_m_kashish’s easy designs. Simple and effective, but still with that handmade touch we know our Cookpad home cooks love!

PLUS.....  check out this edible blood recipe 🩸🩸🩸 which we think is essential for any Halloween party. Made with cocoa powder, golden syrup and cornflour, this yummy tasting (but yucky looking) blood can be dribbled over cakes, biscuits, cupcakes and even at the corners of little vampire mouths!

Grown-up Halloween party food ideas

For grown up parties you can be a little more adventurous with your flavours and ingredients. We just love these recipes with a more adult twist.

Dango eyeballs - these cool eyeballs are made with dango dumplings (glutinous rice balls) which gives them a chewy texture and a really fabulous realistic look.

Long bean earthworms - delightfully gooey, these oozey earthworms are actually green beans in a spicy black bean sauce. Clever!

Jack o lantern sushi - such a simple idea but so effective. Create a face on your salmon sushi using nori sheets to make mini delicious pumpkin lanterns.
