Anuradha Saxena is a married IT professional, who is very unlike most of
the other working professionals. What sets Anuradha apart is her ability
to balance work and home front and still focus on home cooking with
much ease.

She prefers satvik
food

so her focus has always been on nutrition. All the three meals of the
day for her and the family is home cooked by her.

Over to Anuradha...

Satvik food is not a novel concept today. With internet, we have access
to a whole lot of information. For me, however, the journey was easy as
I never really liked onion, garlic, egg or non-veg.

Food is believed to create life force which sustains our body & mind. In
yogic tradition, food was meant to enrich soul & not just satiate the
body. Nature of satvik food is light, easily digestible and has calming
effect on mind. Fruits, vegetable, sprouts, natural sugar & salt, nuts,
seeds, oils, legumes, dairy, herbs etc all come under satvik category.
Most of us know that for any puja, prasad is always satvik and prepared
in remembrance of God. And from whatever bit of reading I did, treating
one's body like a temple and putting only prasad in it, is a long term
and beneficial investment. Today given the chaos one lives in middle of,
meditation is an amazing practice and to be able to do that, one needs
purity, calmness & strength of mind to sit quietly & meditate. I made
some lifestyle choices to find my peace while still working full time
with an IT company & attending to all my worldly responsibilities.

To tell you the truth, one needs to practice consuming satvik food and
lifestyle for a while, at least a couple of months, to be able to see
visible benefits. Having said that, the immediate noticeable change is
that one starts to feel lighter as the amount of acidic food going in,
reduces considerably. A happy tummy is a sure thing. Both me and my
husband today prefer home-cooked food over eat-outs of any sort. More
so, he has started building up interest in cooking & tries out over
weekends when we are not beating the clock. The usual perception people
have is that food won't taste good without onion and garlic. But, having
lived at a number of cities and acquired taste, I end up preparing all
sorts of North Indian, South Indian, Gujarati, Bihari, Mexican etc. food
and everything turns out delectable. I prepare all three meals of the
day at home and keep experimenting with food quite a bit. It gives me
immense satisfaction to be consuming and feeding my family, a wholesome
balanced meal prepared at home.
