Cookpad’s mission is to make everyday cooking fun for all of us. We always want you to enjoy your cooking process as well as be proud in helping others who are inspired by your cooking. Your recipes are helping millions of people on the internet including your friends in Cookpad.

Hence, we have curated a few important and basic tips and tricks that can make your recipe even more attractive and popular.

1. Let’s start with the Main photo

Make sure you take a clear picture of your finished dish and upload it as the main photo. The photo must be clear and the food must be the hero or star of your photo. Help the recipe viewer to understand how tasty the final dish might look like which will motivate the person to give it a try.

Your main photo shows in the feed and in searches. Hence, it will help you get noticed and get that click for the full recipe!

2. Recipe Title

Write a recipe title mentioning what your recipe is about.

Write an attractive yet clear title (eg. my best ever paneer pasanda). You can mention 2–3 star ingredients of the recipe and sometimes the speciality of the dish (Hyderabadi, south Indian, Gujarati etc in title). You can also mention if it is for any specific season (like Summer or Winter) or festival related (Diwali or Navratri/falahari). Make the title unique and a special one!

3. Recipe story/description

Recipe story can let all readers connect with your recipe. It makes your recipe more special, relatable and lovable. You can use the challenge names and hashtags in the story section. You can even pinpoint all the things and stories that can help and encourage any recipe reader to try the recipe right away!

4. Write the cooking time and serving

Fill in an approximate cooking time and serving. It doesn’t have to be perfect but it will help the reader to prepare themselves on time and servings can help cut down/increase ingredients accordingly.

5. Ingredients

One of the very important sections is the ingredients list. Whenever you write a new recipe, try making sure all the ingredient names, units/measurements are correctly written. Someone will trust and make your recipe by your guidance, so it’s a huge responsibility that you write it as accurately as possible so someone else is happy making them for their family.

Try writing each ingredient in a different line and without spelling mistakes.

6. Cooking steps

Help the reader to cook with your clear, easy and understandable steps. You might have to be extra careful that a completely new cook might be trying your recipe for the first time. Hence it has to have complete steps that are easy to follow and cook!

Write different steps at different lines so it’s much easier to follow

7. Step photo or video

Sometimes cooking steps or videos can easily guide and help your reader to understand the steps better and cook accordingly. Sometimes small step videos can help even better to show and explain what needs to be done.

Every dish you make and every recipe you write are all very special but its best when someone can follow and cook your recipes very easily. So, don’t wait and write your amazing recipe to inspire millions of us with your cooking.
