How do I prepare marrow for cooking?
How you prepare your marrow depends on the type of dish you intend to make. The most popular ways to cook marrow is by chopping it and making soup or by stuffing it. If you're stuffing it, remove the seeds but don't throw them away! Did you know, all of the marrow is edible including the skin and seeds. The marrow seeds contain lots of B vitamins and once removed from the surrounding membrane can be roasted and salted.
Two of the most popular ways to cook marrow are in soup and with a stuffing (see recipes below). Marrow is also delicious made into chutney and jam, cubed and roasted, or added to curries.
