Ingredients needed:

  • For the chicken: 2 large chicken breasts, chopped into bite sized pieces, 4 heaped tbsp cornflour, 1 tsp white pepper, 1 tsp table salt
  •
  • For the sauce: 2 heaped tbsp gochujang paste** (see notes) 2 tbsp runny honey, 2 tbsp seasoned rice vinegar, 2 tbsp light soy sauce, 1/2 tbsp finely chopped fresh root ginger, 2 tsp garlic purée paste, 3 tsp sesame seeds, 1 tsp sesame oil
  •
  • To garnish: 4 spring onions, chopped finely, whites and greens separated

** Gochujang paste is a specialist Korean ingredient. You can find it online via Amazon and also in a number of UK supermarkets, including M&S, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Ocado (all recommendations are not affiliated and for helpful suggestions only).

Can't get Gochujang paste in time for the cooking session? Why not try sriracha hot sauce as an alternative.  Whilst it is similar, we highly recommend finding Gochujang paste so that you can experience the dish as it should be served. You can use your gochujang paste in lots of other Korean recipes after you purchase it, and it keeps for a long time after you've opened the jar.

Vegetarian? Why not try making the same recipe using cauliflower instead of chicken!
